The Blood Care Foundation

The Blood Care Foundation was established in 1991 and maintains an international network of blood banks to provide screened blood to its members around the world in cases of emergency when local supplies are unavailable or unreliable.

Membership also assists the Charity to contribute to improving services and raising quality standards in transfusion medicine in the developing world.

An important aspect of the Foundation’s charitable work is the support offered to the medical services in many developing countries. Our Quality Assurance manger and Clinical Director run training courses for blood bank staff and others involved in transfusion medicine. Wherever possible, we also donate blood, resuscitation fluids and sterile equipment to hospitals with the greatest need.

These donations are made on the condition the patients receive them free of charge.
